Abstract Christoph Chesher joined publishing in 1984 as a sales rep at Blackwell Science (BSP) and built up team ground the UK abroad including India – he had an instant connection with country its vibrant books market. In 1993 OUP came to Routledge/T&F 1997, where took key decision set liaison office, which has since gone from strength strength, expanding full-scale publisher. Large wholesalers continue play big part servicing extensive but fragmented Indian market, levels of discounts, concerns around arbitrage, copyright awareness overreliance on print by trade partners remain challenges for publishers India.
